Estelle: sport beans, clif bars, cola flavored power-gels (with caffeine), chocolate covered espresso beans (the chocolate doesn't really melt)

Linda: I carry nuts... Cashews and some almonds...   I sometimes drink gookinaid but I have found for me personally water works best... I also carry some small packets of salt.

Sharon: Sports beans, pretzels, peanuts, raisins, honey packets, and hard candy.

Oscar: nothing. i try to get by with the kindness of strangers (water stations)

Bill: For a Legger run, almost nothing ... maybe a gel. On my own, unsupported, I'll bring a couple of gels and maybe a mini Clif bar or two. At least I'll have them if I want them. Every once in a while I'll test to see what my limits are and find that I can usually go 2 1/2 - 3 hours without extra calories. Most of my runs are over within that window, so I'm not too concerned about the issue. To put it into perspective, the 12s will cover 15 miles in 3 hours, so that's taking you into long run territory. All you really need is to fuel for the extra miles. Now, I don't test myself every long run, maybe just once a season. The rest of the time I take advantage of the water stations and/or whatever I've brought.

Maria: A fuel belt filled with sport jelly beans or gummy chews with electrolytes.

Kim: Jelly beans with the extra salt from JELLYBELLY

Glenn: I like to carry foods that have “texture”, such as dry fruit (pineapple, apricots, and raisins), granola bars, fig newtons, trail mix. I’ve also begun to like “Cilf Shot Bloc.  Side Note: Use your “baggie”, you don’t have to fill up the bag. For a long run you probable need two (2) or three (3) handfull of whatever you like to consume.

John: I used to like Shot Blocs (Margarita…extra salt!), but I’m trying some of the gels and Gu. I always carry Salt Stick capsules: sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, vitamin D…great cramp-busters, all buffered. And some pretzels to settle my stomach.

Catherine: Shot blocks, Succeed if its hot, salted peanuts, pretzels.

Charles: Power gel which I start at 6 miles and take every 3 miles.   This requires 7 for the marathon.
