Estelle: sometimes a bowl of pasta, but I usually eat my normal meals and don't necessarily change my eating habits because i have a long run.

Linda:  The day before a long run I eat some good protein for lunch some fruit fruits and veggies as well as almonds AND for dinner I  have pasta with protein like lobster ravioli from trader joes with marinara sauce and parmesan cheese on top. I drink lots of water the day before.

Sharon: I try to sleep well at least two nights before the run and I tend to do my 'carbo loading' day on Thursday instead of Friday for the long run on Saturday.  Carbo loading on Friday doesn't give my body a long enough period to absorb all the extra nutrients/energy. Fridays are a normal food day. I just try not to eat anything too greasy that will upset my stomach.

Oscar: Anything

Bill: If I know I'm doing a long run the next day, then I'll make sure to not eat too little. If it's a race, then I'll have my last big meal for lunch the day before (better chance of evacuating a lunch meal than a dinner meal by starting time), but for a training run at its lesser effort level, it's not much of an issue.

Maria: I drink more water than usual to hydrate (with electrolytes if possible) and I do the ole'  carbo loading thing.

Kim: I concentrate on increasing complex carbs over what I normally eat in a day.

Glenn: The day before a long run, I have my last meal between 2 to 4 pm. I try to have some animal fat. My real last meal is something light around 8 or 9 o’clock.  I like to nibble on 2 or 3 pieces of chicken (I like chicken wings) or a slice of pizza and washing the light snack down with a PEPSI.

Side Note: Pasta is the same as Chinese food, it does not stay with me very long before I’m hungry again. That is the reason “why” I prefer to eat things such as a one (1) Carl’s “famous star hamburger”, it is the smallest hamburger that has everything that I really like to eat.

John: It’s more a question of what I do NOT eat: animal fats like cheese, butter, etc. I avoid grease in general…olive oil only (aids absorption of some nutrients). I replace some protein with carbs, and only eat lean protein (fish, chicken breast), and my favorite meal is the baked potato a la Rosa (our former 12’s mentor)…a baked potato with cooked spinach, salsa, and just a dab of sour cream.

Catherine: I try not to change my meals.  You don't need to "carb up" - your body can only store 3 days of carbs anyway, so just concentrate of fresh fruit, vegetables.  I don't believe in the whole big old bowl of pasta the nite before find it sits heavy and I don't sleep well!

Charles:  For breakfast and lunch what I normally eat, except no fruit.  For dinner either spaghetti and meat balls, spaghetti and marinara sauce, or in there is no place to get pasta, a Subway sandwich.
